According to tourism professionals, the trip to Mansarovar was closed for the last three years due to the ban on travel by China. Which China has opened. Now Nepali citizens and tourists from third countries can travel to Mansarovar from Nepal. The suitable season for Kailash Yatra is from May to September.

The General Secretary of Taking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAN) Vinod Sapkota informed that the Mansarovar trip through Nepal is not yet open for Indian tourists.

China has made some changes in its visa policy this time. In the past, China has adopted a visa policy such that at least 4 people will be required to provide biometrics at a time, as they have issued group visas in the past. Therefore, Nepalese who want to go to Mansarovar from East or West Nepal have to stay in Kathmandu until the visa process is completed.

In the past, Indian citizens from Nepal used to get permission to enter China. Currently, except for non-resident Indians, those holding Indian passports are not allowed to go on the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. Sapkota informed that the Nepalese pilgrims who have not been able to go even after planning the trip for the last three years can now go on the Mansarovar Yatra.

Now Mansarovar Yatra is open from Humla’s Hilsa and Rasuwagadhi crossings. Humla’s Hilsa crossing has been available in both directions since last May. Now this port is open for both people and cargo. Rasuwagadhi, another border crossing of China, has been opened in both directions, making it easier for those going on the Mansarovar journey.

Now Indian tourists have started coming from Nepalganj to Humla to see Kailash Doordarshan, businessmen said. Another route to Kailash is the Kathmandu-Lhasa air route. Those going by this route have to take a ship from Kathmandu to Lhasa and from there, travel 1500 kilometers by road to reach Kailash.

Pilgrims consider the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra as a pilgrimage of pilgrimages, i.e. ‘Mahatirtha’. Mansarovar Lake is located on the land of China at an altitude of 4,590 meters above sea level.
