Nepal announces “Tourism Decade” from 2023 to 2032

“The government has announced the ‘Tourism Decade’ from 2023 to 2032. The declaration of attracting 10,00,000 tourists by 2023 is also mentioned in the upcoming fiscal year’s budget.

The ‘Visit Nepal, Explore Nepal’ campaign will be conducted this year. Minister of Finance, Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, has stated that giving priority to inter-provincial air services.”

He mentioned that there will be a strong emphasis on constructing the Taplejung to Great Himalayan Trail. He also mentioned accelerating the construction of the Pokhara-Mustang highway. He highlighted the construction of tourist routes, including the Pashupati and Lumbini projects.

Furthermore, it is mentioned that a circuit connecting Janakpur, Swargadwari, and Muktinath will be constructed.

Nepal increases tourism budget

A budget of NPR 11.96 billion has been allocated for tourism development in Nepal. It has been planned to increase the budget by approximately NPR 1.5 billion for the upcoming fiscal year. The government has set a target of attracting 10 million tourists by the year 2023. A budget of NPR 9.38 billion was allocated for the tourism sector in the current fiscal year.
