Nepal plans to build a new trekking route, Buddha Himal – Himalchuli Great Lake Circuit Trail

In a collaborative effort with Dordi Rural Municipality, the construction of the Buddha Himal-Himalchuli Great Lake Circuit Trail is set to start. Multiple rural municipalities have joined forces to enhance tourism in the breathtaking northern mountainous region of Lamjung and Gorkha.

In a program led by Yuvraj Adhikari, Chairman of Dordi Rural Municipality, the officials from Dordi Rural Municipality of Lamjung, Dudhpokhari Rural Municipality, Marsyangdi Rural Municipality, and Ajirkot Rural Municipality of Gorkha joined hands. They signed a memorandum of understanding, marking the formal agreement to commence the construction of the circuit trail.

Following the completion of the circuit trail’s construction, Nilhari Bastola, the president of TAAN, expressed their commitment to actively supporting the promotion of tourism in the region.

A coordination committee has been established, led by the chairperson of Dordi Rural Municipality. This committee will oversee and coordinate the various aspects of the trail’s development.

The members of the committee are Arjun Gurung, president of Marsyangdi Rural Municipality, Deepak Devkota, president of Ajirkot Rural Municipality, Dhanprasad Gurung, president of Dudhpokhari Rural Municipality, and Dhan Bahadur Gurung, the second vice president of Trekking Agency Association of Nepal (TAAN).

Recognizing the potential benefits, the committee’s chairman highlighted during a Wednesday meeting that collaboration between Rainas and Besishahr Rural Municipality has been agreed upon for the construction of the trail.

In addition, officials from the rural municipalities have engaged in fruitful discussions to promote mountain tourism in their respective areas.

Buddha Himal – Himalchuli Great Lake Circuit Trail Trekking Route

The journey starts from Ajirkot in Gorkha and proceeds towards Dordi via Dudhpokhri. This trail includes natural and cultural areas, including Ajirkot, Nage Pokhari, Dudhpokhri, Notanche, Lipelek, Memepokhri, Bar Pokhari, and Daggi Lake.

According to information provided by the village chairman officer, the entire trail will require 21 days to complete, with a specific portion of 9 days dedicated to traversing through the captivating landscapes of Dordi rural municipality.

The journey will ascend to approximately 5000 meters altitude, offering trekkers breathtaking adventure experiences as they explore the trail.

Moreover, along the lower range of the trail, one can venture towards beautiful destinations such as Bichaur, Ilam Pokhari, Lipe Lake, Damrang, Kirtipur, Tap, Barpokhari, Hille Taksar, Pis Hill, and Marsyangdi Rural Municipality of Besishahar, through the route of Ajirkot Bhachek in Gorkha.
